Life is not fair. It has no mercy.
The best tasting foods have the most calories.
Those that work the hardest earn the least.
We think of the right thing to say after the moment has passed.
When we plan a picnic, it rains.
So we have to learn to dance in the rain - to revel in it,
Or life passes us by while we await the sunshine.
I knew a man, tortured for years, who laughed at the pain.
Together, we danced in the rain
Until he grew tired
And slept.
The world has no idea what it lost.
If it did, the furnace would cease to cycle on and off,
The freezer would make no more ice cubes,
The trees would no longer grow,
The birds would huddle on limbs refusing to fly in sorrow.
But I know what the world has lost,
And the world is a much better place for his having visited.
My world will not be shattered by this storm.
I will laugh and dance in the rain in his honor.
